DIY Foaming Hand Soap

diy foaming hand soap

I am in love with Bath and Body Works hand soaps. There used to be a time when I would buy a ton of them, usually around Christmas when they are on sale and stock up for the whole year. Granted their soap is not overly expensive, but now that I am trying really hard to stick to a budget and cut any unnecessary expenses, spending $40.00-$50.00 for 10 -20 cute little bottles of soap for the year seems to fall into that category of unnecessary.

Trying to save money, I found a recipe online to make your own DIY foaming hand soap and have been using it for the past year and I have to say, there is really no difference between making your own and buying the ones that Bath and Body Works sells. You may not have as much of a selection in scents, but when you see how much foaming hand soap you can make, it’s definitely worth it!

Materials:

  • Soap container with Foaming Hand Pump (I used a leftover one from Bath and Body Works but if you do not have one, you can buy one off of Amazon here)
  • Dish Soap of your choice (I use Dawn Green Apple soap)
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Fill empty soap container 1/4 of the way with dish soap

2. Fill the remainder of the container with water (leave a little space at the top so the soap does not overflow when you put the pump back on)

3. Twist the pump into place and gently shake the soap/water mixture

It’s a great tip. I have been doing this for a long time it’s great to have foaming soap to wash your hand I do the same to wash my dishes while I am saving a lot of money. My daughter-in-law provided me with a lot of empty foaming bottles so I have enough in case the break down.

During this time when we have been asked to stay home to help stop the spread of Covid 19, I am running out of antibacterial hand soap and hand sanitzer. It is not to be found in the stores in my area. I found a bottle of Softsoap antibacterial hand soap in my pantry and will make it last longer by using your recipe. Be safe and healthy. God bless you and yours. Thank you for sharing.

I add a few drops of Thieves essential oil to mine as well. Been doing this for years You can really use any oil; lavender, lemon, etc.

Years ago I bought a foaming Hand Soap Dispenser from Pampered Chef. I didn’t like it because it was a cylinder shape and very top-heavy. So I didn’t use it for very long. I think I wound up pouring the soap into another dispenser. But I think it was about five years ago I bought Dawn and it had a foaming dispenser. I use it frequently throughout my day everyday. And it’s just gone kaput. Thank you for this pin because I remembered I’ve got Bath & Body Works foaming dispensers in my bathrooms. I’m stealing one from under the counter. And it will be in my kitchen.
